Matt Trenary

Matt Trenary is a Financial Advisor for Capital Advisory Group, Inc. & Tax Planners of Lake Norman. Recognizing that every client’s needs are different, Matt believes in offering a holistic approach to financial planning. He is relationship-driven and takes pride in delivering objective advice and customized solutions to the people that trust him to guide their wealth.

His motivation to enter this industry developed after witnessing some of the people close to him struggle financially due to not having a financial plan for retirement or an understanding of how their financial decisions now would affect them long term, Matt decided to change the narrative and became passionate about working with individuals to create a unique financial plan for their future.

Matt spent his early time as a Financial Advisor working with large national financial firms before deciding to transition to more personalized wealth planning. His decision was fueled dedication to making an impact and adding value to his client’s lives, in a much more personal way than he was able to at a larger traditional firm. Matt carries his Series 7 and 66, and Life, Health, Disability, Long Term Care, and Medicare Insurance state licenses, empowering him with the tools and credentials to provide complete financial planning, tailored to the individual client’s needs.

Originally from Tupelo Mississippi, Matt moved to Mooresville, NC in 2005. Before pursuing his Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance, Matt pursued another passion of his, working as mechanic and with a NASCAR Pit Crew for five years. After leaving the race world behind temporarily, he then moved back to Mississippi to help his family open and operate a restaurant and eventually back to where he currently resides with his wife, Denise.

Outside of the office, Matt and his wife are very active and enjoy hiking and camping in the mountains, paddleboarding on Lake Norman, and riding their mountain bikes. When they aren’t spending time outside, you’ll find them traveling to see their families or renovating their home in downtown Mooresville. Their three rescued animals Nikki, Joey, and Bella are always curious about what they’re up to next. Matt is still an avid racing fan and amateur race car driver, along with a driving coach for the Sports Car Club of America (SCCA), making being here in Race City USA the perfect location to offer his advisory services.
